Salix babylonica - Babylon weeping willow
.
Common name: Babylon weeping willow
Family: Salicaceae (willow family)
Synonym: Salix sieboldii
Distribution: China
IUCN Red list: Data deficient
Hardiness: USDA Zone 6
Life form: Deciduous tree
Comments: A deciduous tree with long, narrow leaves, green above, blue-gray below. It has a rounded crown with long, pendulous branches. Our records trace this plant's propagation lineage from starts taken from St. Helena at Napoleon's grave! It is a bit tender for our area and, as such, will not get as large as it would in more mild climates. Expect no more than 25-30' tall and a bit more in width. Plant as a shade tree in moist areas or along waterways.
