Comments: A rare deciduous tree native to Japan and northeast Asia growing to 60' tall. This slow-growing round-headed tree has alternate, club-shaped leaves, 6-12" in length by 6" wide. Flowers are monoecious, inconspicuous yellow-green in early spring. Fruit is a nut, enclosed in a downy cap and relished by squirrels. Plant in full sun in well-drained soil.
