Comments: A native deciduous shrub, but rare in southern Ohio. Sometimes more treelike in stature, growing 15' tall and wide. Dark to medium glossy green leaves are clean and free of insects and diseases. Fall color is often a desirable clear yellow, unusual for olive family members. This shrub is dioecious, with male and female flowers born on separate plants. Male flowers are white, larger and brighter in color, and supported on fleecy panicles, 5-8" long. Female plants bear attractive, dark purple fruits ("little olives").
