Comments: This cultivar of black tupelo has a narrow habit, growing 35' tall and only 18' wide at maturity. It has symmetrical, upswept branches with a strong central leader, which contributes to the remarkably neat and uniform appearance. Dark green foliage turns intensively bright red in fall, coloring earlier in autumn than most cultivars. While the foliage is similar to that of many red maples, its narrower shape makes it useful in garden spots where a red maple would be too wide. This tough, adaptable beauty even makes a stellar street tree. It is perfect for a low spot in your yard that stays soggy after a rain, and it will tolerate some drought once established.
