Acer 'IslID' Ice Dragon®

.
.
Common name: Ice Dragon® maple
Family: Aceraceae (maple family)
Distribution: hybrid: selection of Acer pseudosieboldianum × A. palmatum
Hardiness: USDA Zone 4
Life form: Deciduous tree
Comments: This is an all-season, small garden maple selected to tolerate zone 4 winters while retaining the refined qualities of the less hardy Japanese maples. It will grow to about 8 ft. tall and 10 ft. wide with a yearly growth rate of 12-15 inches. The spring
leaves unfurl blushed orange-red, quickly maturing to green. In summer, the finely divided leaves are durable and tolerant of sun and heat. In late fall, the foliage becomes a kaleidoscope of yellow, orange and red. After leaf drop, the undulating
branch structure is a visual treat during the winter.
