Viburnum carlesii 'J. N. Select A' Spice Island™

.
.
Common name: Spice Island™ Korean spice viburnum
Family: Caprifoliaceae (honeysuckle family)
Distribution: Species native to Korea and s. Japan
Hardiness: USDA Zone 5
Life form: Deciduous shrub/Subshrub
Comments: This flowering, deciduous shrub is a uniform and compact plant with the same sweet-spicy floral fragrance this species is known for. The plant grows smaller and more compact than many other selections. It is useful as a specimen plant near entry ways, patios or windows to allow its fragrant flowers to be enjoyed up close. It will perform well in moist well-drained soils with at least six hours of direct sunlight. This selection was found and introduced by Michael Yanny at Johnson's Nursery, Inc. in 2000.
