Comments: An intergeneric hybrid, deciduous, vigorous shrub. The flowers are the jewel of this shrub being 3-4" wide with maroon outer petals and white-tinged inner ones. They are produced early spring, prior to emergence of glossy green, crinkled leaves. Stems, leaves and flowers have a slightly spicy fragrance. Fall color is a soft yellow. Growing 6-8' tall and wide it is still of a size to fit most landscapes.
