A large, deciduous shrub forming a multi-stemmed, rounded mass to 10' tall and wide. Sports large, 6-8" long leaves and thick grayish brown, hairy stems. Flowers give way to egg-shaped fruit that ripens red to black in autumn. A reliably hardy shrub that masses well to form an effective screen for tough sites.
