Comments: A deciduous shrub valued mostly for its early, fragrant, pink flower clusters opening from late winter to early spring. Habit is upright arching, to 10' tall with deeply veined dark green leaves. Early flowering habit subjects flower buds to frequent cold temperature damage. Fruit ripens to a black drupe. Fall color seldom showy, but occasionally red to purple.
