Comments: A medium to large deciduous shrub growing 6-8' tall and wide, often spreading by layers. Selected by the old Synnestvedt Nursery of Illinois around 25 years ago for its extremely lustrous, medium green leaves, rounded in outline, to 4" across. Habit is stiffly upright, with numerous light gray to dark gray stems straight and unbranched near the base. Flowers open early June, 3-4" across, wide and malodorous. Tiny fruits ripen blue-black and persist into early fall. Fall color not outstanding, yellow to faint orange-yellow.
