.
Common name: lesser whitebeam, least whitebeam
Family: Rosaceae (rose family)
Synonym: Hedlundia minima, Sorbus intermedia var. minima
Distribution: Europe (Wales)
IUCN Red list: Vulnerable
Hardiness: USDA Zone 5
Life form: Deciduous tree
IUCN Red List code: VU D1; 13 November 2015
Comments: A deciduous shrub with slender spreading branches and growing to a height of 10' and width of 6'. The oblong, dull green leaves become glabrous above and grey-tomentose beneath. Spring brings the small white flowers that appear in narrow, round-topped clusters followed by small scarlet-red colored fruits. Great plant for the shrub border or as a backdrop plant. Found growing wild in limestone crags so well-drained soil in full sun is a must.
