Comments: A broadleaf evergreen suckering shrub growing 2-3' tall, considered the best for northern gardens for its hardiness. This species has dark green, glossy leaves, 1-2" long, persistent through the winter. Flowers open late winter to early spring in tiny, creamy-white, fragrant axillary clusters. Fruits ripen black, 1/4" across.
