Small-leaved lepidote (leaves with scales) rhododendrons are better suited to exposed locations than their large-leaved cousins. Grows to 3' x 3' in 6 years. The plant is hardy to -15°F and flower hardy to -10°F. Flower trusses are composed of 14 flowers that are broadly funnel-shaped and 5-lobed. Color is violet and strong purple in bud, opening brilliant violet.
