A hybrid elepidote, (large-leaf evergreen) rhododendron named by the late David G. Leach utilizing the beautiful Yakushimanum rhododendron of Japan. Dome shaped trusses of magenta buds open to rose-purple flowers that slowly fade to whitish. The foliage displays attractive indumentum (fuzzy undersides).
