Comments: A naturally occurring hybrid between the native black and shingle oaks. It grows as a large, deciduous tree spanning 60' in height and spread. Lobed leaves are lustrous dark green. Makes a fine shade tree for large estates. Does best in full sun in moist, rich, well-drained, acidic soil but also lives in poor, dry sandy or clay based soils.
