Comments: A medium-sized deciduous tree, 30' tall with rounded crown. Named for its densely dark green, contorted leaves. Autumn color is lacking or at best a poor yellow. Fruits are light brown nuts. Male flowers catkin-like, yellowish green in April. Discovered in Savernake Forest, England in the early 20th century.
