.
Common name: dwarf chinkapin oak, scrub chestnut oak
Family: Fagaceae (beech family)
Distribution: e. North America

Comments: A slow-growing, deciduous, drought tolerant, small native tree to large shrub. Twenty feet tall with similar spread with irregularly rounded crown. Can grow well in areas other oaks will not. Narrow, yellow-green leaves have coarse teeth along margins. Fall color can be reddish brown but not usually spectacular.
