Comments: We first received this plant from The Arnold Arboretum, Jamaica Plain, MA, in 2001. During almost 20 years of cultivation in the flowering shrub collection, this Japanese stone pine has grown to be a sturdy, care-free, compact evergreen shrub to 5-6' tall by 3-4' wide. Needles are grouped in bundles of 5, 2-4" long, green underneath but sporting white bands of stomates above. Not found in commerce and exceedingly rare in gardens.
