Comments: A dense, compact broadleaf evergreen shrub that in 10 years will grow 4' tall, slightly less wide. New leaves emerge tinted bronze, changing to lustrous dark green. Flower buds are deep purple-red opening to white flowers in April that are slightly fragrant, bell-shaped, 3-6" long panicles. Forms a neat, compact shrub and is often used as a specimen or companion plant. Does best in shade or part shade, and moist, acid soil. Resistant to deer browse.
