Picea abies 'Hildburghausen' - Hildburghausen Norway spruce
.
Common name: Hildburghausen Norway spruce
Family: Pinaceae (pine family)
Distribution: Species native to Europe
Hardiness: USDA Zone 4
Life form: Evergreen tree
Comments: This is a miniature, perfectly globose evergreen of witches'-broom origin. It has very small light green needles and congested tight growth, growing less than 1" per year. Each terminal shoot grows the same length each year making the plant appear as if sheared. Would make a nice addition to a rock or dwarf conifer garden.
