Next
Common name:
Jack Frost dawn redwood
Family:
Cupressaceae (cypress family)
Distribution:
Species native to c. China
Hardiness:
USDA Zone 5
Life form:
Deciduous tree
Comments:
A large growing, deciduous conifer tree, growing up to 80' or more at maturity, with a conical shape and tapering trunk broadening to a buttressed base. This selection has green and white variegated needles turning a coppery color in fall. While maturing slightly smaller than the species, it can still grow 1½' per year. Would work well as a specimen as long as there is plenty of room to grow. Discovered and introduced by the Flora Wonder™ Collection of Buchholz Nursery, Gaston, OR.
