A needled small tree or large evergreen shrub with weeping branches, often without a distinct single leader. Probable height and width not more than 10' by 12' wide. Needles are very prickly, bluish green in summer turning yellow-green in winter. Bark is reddish brown, peeling off in thick strips. Best used as a specimen plant.
