A selection of a small to medium sized deciduous native tree discovered in Indiana. It has an oval rounded crown when open grown, 30-60' tall and half as wide. Dark green leaves are up to 5" long and 2" wide. The small, edible, reddish fruit is said to have tender skin with very sweet pulp but the tree is slow to bear. Its fruit won the Mitchell Persimmon Festival contest in 1957. Mature trees have a distinctly thick, blocky dark bark.
