Comments: This large shrub or multi-stemmed deciduous tree growing to nearly 40' tall in the wild but will probably be smaller under cultivation in this country. It is characterized by the exquisite exfoliating bark that reveals tan and copper colors reminiscent to that of some of the nicest river birch selections. It produces male catkins and inconspicuous female flowers in early spring that develop into filbert nuts. This is a great plant as a specimen or wildlife food source.
