Comments: This European counterpart to our native hazelnut is resistant to Eastern Filbert Blight. Usually attains greater size than our native, up to 20' tall and can be trained as a small tree. Prized for its large, edible nuts. A late bloomer which pollinates best with Gem and Halle's Giant and also overlaps with Yamhill and Gamma. Male flowers (catkins) are showy in spring as they elongate up to 4".
