Comments: What's better than a weeping redbud? A purple weeping redbud! This is a new plant to the landscape released thru the North Carolina Agricultural Research Service. This attractive specimen combines stunning color with architectural style in the garden. Purple heart-shaped leaves give the plant a bold look in the garden. In mid to late April, it is covered with lavender pea-like flowers. A definite specimen plant. Mounds upon itself and height is slow to develop. It spreads about 12' wide. Fall color is yellow but in most years not spectacular. Once established it is a tough tree doing well in urban landscapes.
