Comments: A dwarf, evergreen shrub, slow-growing and compact, maturing at 2' by 2'. The name refers to its fleshy, purple, plum-like cones. Needles are emerald green all year. Plum-yews are dioecious with male and female cones produced on separate plants. Tiny male cones are borne in the leaf axils; female cones are held on small stalks of second or third year wood. Dwarf selections usually don't produce cones. An attractive small shrub or groundcover when massed. Resistant to deer browse.
