.
.
Common name: Julia Jane littleaf boxwood
Family: Buxaceae (boxwood family)
Distribution: Species native to e. Asia
Hardiness: USDA Zone 5
Life form: Evergreen shrub
Comments: A small broadleaf evergreen shrub to around 3-4' tall and wide that was introduced from Colorado in 1992 but is virtually absent in the trade. Foliage consists of opposite leaves, densely arranged along the stems, 1/3" long. Flowers open in early spring (April) with male and female flowers grouped closely together, sweetly fragrant, clusters to ½" wide. Boxwood's exceptional heat and drought tolerance and high resistance to rabbit and deer browse are pluses in any landscape.
