Buxus 'Buddy'

Buxus 'Buddy' - Buddy boxwood
.
Common name: Buddy boxwood
Family: Buxaceae (boxwood family)
Distribution: hybrid: suspected hybrid
Hardiness: USDA Zone 5
Life form: Evergreen shrub
Comments: A putative hybrid between common boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) and the Korean boxwood (B. sinica var. insularis), 'Buddy' hybrid boxwood grows slowly to around 2' tall by 3' wide. Foliage retains the excellent medium to dark green quality of the common boxwood year round. Tolerant of drought and shade, this plant is easy to cultivate and its low stature makes it a fine companion with other dwarf evergreens. 'Buddy' is named in honor of the late Buddy Hubbuch, Curator of Bernheim Forest and Arboretum, Claremont, KY. Highly resistant to feeding from rabbits and deer.
