Comments: Virginia bluebells is a native Ohio wildflower growing to 12-24" tall x 12-24" wide that occurs in moist, rich woods and river floodplains. An erect, clump-forming perennial which features loose, terminal clusters of pendulous, trumpet-shaped, blue flowers blooming in early to mid-spring. Fascinating flower buds emerge pink and open to pinkish flowers that soon turn a striking sky-blue. Smooth, oval, bluish green leaves go dormant by mid-summer. A springtime favorite in part sun to shade.
