Acer tegmentosum 'Joe Witt' - Joe Witt Manchurian striped maple
.
Common name: Joe Witt Manchurian striped maple
Family: Aceraceae (maple family)
Distribution: Species native to n.e. Asia
Hardiness: USDA Zone 5
Life form: Deciduous tree
Comments: A small, deciduous tree, 25' to 30' high with a globe-shaped habit. New stem growth starts glabrous light green and changes to bold white stripes on green - a superior selection for stem color. Creamy white, 4" flowers appear after leaves and hang well below foliage. Fall color is yellow. Makes a great understory tree in backyard or along a wood edge. Considered one of the hardiest of the striped maples.
