A shrub to 6' tall and spreading to 10' with rich purple hues on new leaves as well as yellow, fragrant flower clusters in April. Leaves mature bluish green remaining pest and disease free. Fall color usually yellow; fruit ornamentally insignificant. Plant in part shade in rich, moist, well-drained soil. May suffer branch dieback during severe winters.
