Comments: A medium-sized deciduous native tree growing 30-60' tall, 25-40' wide. Yellow-green stems. Flowers are yellow and occur before leaf emergence. Fruit is a dark blue drupe. Bark on older trees becomes deeply furrowed and is dark reddish brown in color. Fall color can be spectacular in shades of scarlet to purple. All parts are aromatic. Prune away basal shoots if single trunk is desired.
