Comments: A large, deciduous, fast-growing tree that does well in clay soils and those with higher pH. It matures as a round-headed tree 40-60' tall and wide. The lustrous dark green leaves are oval to oblong, up to 5" long, coarsely toothed and covered with hairs. Fall color is yellow-brown. The acorn is about 1". Bark is blackish with raised plates. A cold hardy, drought tolerant and adaptable large shade tree.
